Hey sweet souls! Let’s talk about trust.

2020 has been an incredibly uncertain time. We may have found ourselves worrying about jobs, family, health, or even toilet paper. During times like these it may have felt hard to trust in God.

How do we continue to trust in Him during uncertain times? Does this mean that we refrain from complaining, ignore our feelings, or turn a blind eye to our circumstances? Not at all.

What does it mean to trust in God?

Look past your perspective and have confidence in Him -

Trusting in God means believing in His promises to deliver, comfort and protect us. Consider building your confidence in God by reading his word.

The Bible is full of testimonies of individuals who went through the same struggles we are facing today. Ruth lost her husband, Paul struggled with sin, and David felt as if God forgot about him. There is no struggle that God has not heard of. There are many examples in the Bible that illustrate God’s deliverance, comfort and protection in the toughest of times - the pandemic is no different. (Proverbs 3:5).

"Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to Him and he will make your paths straight." Proverbs 3:5-6

Be open and honest with Him in prayer -

The Bible tells us to cast all of our anxieties on Him.

But how do we do that - Lay it all out in prayer. Yes, it's that simple. Be upfront, open and honest with Him. There is nothing going on in your mind and heart that God is unaware of. We demonstrate our trust by being honest with God and letting Him in. He will not be disappointed.

Allow yourself the time and space to rest -

God tells us to come to Him when we are tired and he will ease our burdens. The toll of worry is heavy and can tire us physically, emotionally, mentally and spiritually. God invites us to give it all to Him.

In Him we find hope, grace, comfort, love and so much more. How do we do this? It starts with not trying to do it all on our own. Lean on Him by asking Him to help you forgive, trust, heal or for whatever it is that you need.

If you take nothing else from this post, take this 5 tips:

  1. Ask God for wisdom and guidance when making decisions. (James 1:5)

  2. Keep your head up, do not be discouraged. (Isaiah 41:10)

  3. Choose faith over fear. (Psalm 34:4)

  4. Become familiar with God’s will so you may prosper. (Jeremiah 29:11)

  5. Continuously renew your mind with God’s word. (Ephesians 4:23)

What steps are you taking today towards building your trust in God?
