So many of us today look out to the world to define our worth and establish our identity.

We try to find our identity in the schools we choose, the career paths we follow, the stores where we shop. We scroll through social media and wish we could be more like that woman with the picture-perfect Instagram feed and the picture-perfect life. We look for our worth in our clothes, makeup, appearance, and in our relationships.

But the truth is, we’re looking at all the wrong things to make us feel worthy. And I’m as guilty of this as the next person. It’s hard to look up to see your identity, when the world right in front of you is screaming a different message in your ear. It’s easy to get distracted.

But you… you are a child of God. And there is only one place you need to look to find your identity.

Look to Him. Look to Christ, who sacrificed himself that you might live. Look to the Creator, who crafted every part of you and calls you His masterpiece. Look to the Giver of Life, for He is the one who has given you life.

As Paul wrote in Galatians 3:26-28, “So in Christ Jesus you are all children of God through faith, for all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ. There is neither Jew nor Gentile, neither slave nor free, nor is there male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus.”

Don’t you see, friend? Your age doesn’t matter. Your social standing doesn’t matter. Your clothes don’t matter. Your relationship status doesn’t matter. None of those define you.

In Christ Jesus, you are a child of God.

Find your identity in Him today. Stake your joy and your hope on His perfect promises, because they will never be broken. Everything else in this world will pass away, but if you plant your identity in Christ, you will never be shaken.

And never forget… you are onederfully created.
