Life, Hope and a Restored Relationship With God

I used to think that Christianity was a lot like karma - that you when you did bad and sinned, making a choice you weren't proud of, that you would get punished for it. Or if you did something good, you'd get blessings from God. But looking back, I cannot express how wrong my perspective and idea of God was.
Brother or sister in Christ, we do NOT get what we deserve. Why? Because as a result of our rebellion against God, we deserve nothing more than death. Whoah - let that sink in.
But GOD, in His rich love, mercy and grace, decided He would sacrifice His precious and beloved Son for us.
Jesus came for one reason - to give us the opportunity to know Him in a personal relationship, through dying for us. His birth some 2,000 years ago was just the start of His ministry. Jesus willingly died for me and you, in our very state of sin, so that through taking our place, we would be set free. Set free to flee the prision we have trapped ourselves in.
Jesus took what we deserved and I've come to learn that we don’t get what we deserve - death. Because Jesus took our place, we get life, hope and a restored relationship with God. It's been a challenging year, but God's character and hope has been unharmed.
Now, being set free we can actually approach God’s throne with confidence. We don’t have to fear His wrath or live in fear of what's next.
"There is no fear in love, perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love." 1 John 4:18
Truthfully, as Justin Peter said, “If we got justice, we would get hell”
You are more loved than you ever dared to imagine and have more in Christ than you ever could ask for. Our past may help shape us, but we don't have to let it control us. In Christ, we are more than the mistakes of our past.
